Seesmic | The video Twitter or a big waste of bandwidth and time?
So i was reading techcrunch today as always and just as i refreshed again another story came up this time about a new service called Seesmic which is under private beta invite only at the moment and the first 100 people to email in got an invite code. Yay! I got an invite!
So ive been playing around with this service and it is really the video twitter, sound good? Sounds bloody addictive just like twitter is but when you consider that apart from all the good stuff you sometimes hear on twitter such as hot tech news and interesting news stories you also get alot of boring things such as people updating just to say they are going for a walk, boring isnt it well now you can SEE PEOPLE as they tell you…”hey im going for a walk”.
Seems to me that although twitter and jaiku even pownce can be addictive and interesting there is always a boring update or two and with this new service its just the same, giving people the opertunity to video update all the time with useless updates. Maybe private channels would help Seesmic out as that could lead to better GTD and cooperation between co-workers sending each other video updates, that could be useful.
But for the time being i will continue to have a play with it as and when time permits but it certainly isnt going to over take my twittering or my jaiku posts, there just isnt the time.
What do you think of Seesmic.com?
